Not a great deal but better than what Ryobi has been offering lately.

But given the bad reputation Ryobi has gotten (and seemingly deserves) for poor warranty service and battery failures, I don't think it's worth it at anything but a screaming hot price.

Most of my tools are RYOBI and I haven't had any issues getting warranty/replacement from RYOBI. With that said, I had warranty service done for 3 different batteries which have been replaced by them and I still own about 15+ batteries in and out of warranty. So my question is, what are we talking about specifically: is it warranty for tools the issue or is it a specific voltage family? The replacement I got were two 18v batteries and a 40v battery.

From what I've read they now require batteries and tools and equipment to be shipped to them or brought to a repair center, and repair/processing times can be long. And 3 years isn't long for a battery warranty in the first place. The other options like cobalt and green Works seem to be much more lenient and consumer friendly.

And as for personal experience, of two Ryobi pieces of equipment I've used –a 40V blower and a 40 V fan– both had issues in the first two months of light use. The trigger on the blower intermittently doesn't work (I haven't opened a warranty claim yet).

The fan just simply stopped working. And when I went to file a warranty claim, the website showed the warranty was already expired and wouldn't allow a claim…despite the warranty clearly saying something like three years on the box.
