SSS for single coil sound. Maple neck. I got a seafoam about 10 years ago, for around the same price. Decent neck. Nice low price makes later modifications easy. You might want to change the nut, shield the pickup cavity, and swap the tuners. I have other guitars, so I haven't bothered. Like any new guitar, you'll want it set up. Comes with a cable.

I haven't played this line from Fender, but the fact that they specify it's a "beginner" guitar makes me think it's not something worth upgrading. A standard Squier makes for a good project guitar, though.
