Rechargeable 1.5V lithiums are kinda tricky to use. They have a step-down converter/charging controller between the battery and device that's a point of failure. They can fry themselves or fail under normal use and you have 3.7V battery powering a 1.5V device. Have blew up a couple under normal use, thankfully not inside sensitive electronics.

Ni-MH are more robust and can handle more abuse.

now if only they'd put the AA's on sale, seems like a long time since they did that, but the AAA's have been on sale a lot lately. These and energizer lithiums are all you need. Even the top brand alkaline batteries all leak sooner or later now, Duracell/Energizer/Kirkland/Rayovak had them all leak the last 4-5 years, AA seems worse than AAA, not worth destroying equipment for.
