Bummer this went up in price. Bought aug 7th for 21.08. Wanted a few more since I have AAA to AA converters and have more devices using AAA than AA ☹️

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank cdhamma

It's $23.99 at Home Depot (which is the price it was before this sale) so this is actually only about $2 off that price.

Just an fyi these are terrible for electronics that need the full voltage. Because these drop their voltage so quickly you only get about 25% of the capacity before the device stops working due to insufficient voltage. Swapped to a pair of lithium ion AAs for my Xbox controller after using eneloop AAs for a year and it lasts way longer.

I took advantage of the Duracell rechargeable offer from Woot a while back. I got 30 AA's and 10 AAA's, plus 5 chargers. Wasn't bad for $60 and Duracell came out ahead of all other brands in the test that the farm guy did on Youtube. Although these Eneloop can be charged a lot more times. The Duracell's can be charged 400 times, but they kept their shelf life a lot better which is what interested me. After sitting on a shelf for 1 year, they only lost 10% of their charge. After being used in outdoor solar lights every day for a year, they also retained their power. The top 3 battery brands were Duracell, Ikea's Ladda brand and Eneloop, in that order. Although as I said, if you need something you can charge 2000 times, go with Eneloop. Just know they don't hold their charge well, while sitting in a drawer or shelf and they lose max power faster over the years.

Lithium rechargeable, or just one-time lithium batteries?
Also, for anyone curious, they also have a 10-pack for $20 on sale too should anyone want to save the $2 if 10 is more than enough.

The number of cycles these companies advertise is complete BS. Even when they're not outright making them up, they generally use an outdated and completely unrealistic testing method. If you look at the fine print on the back of the Eneloop package, you'll see they're only rated for 600 cycles based on the newer (and IMHO still overly optimistic) methodology.

These Eneloops should easily hold their charge better than the Duracells being sold today. In the past, some Duracell NiMH may have been rebranded Eneloops but that's no longer the case. Duracell tends to sell higher capacity NiMH these days, and high capacity NiMH inherently have a higher self-discharge rate.

The Duracells may have a slightly higher capacity but I can virtually guarantee they will have a higher self-discharge rate and a substantially shorter overall/cycle lifespan.

Another commenter mentioned this, but one thing potential buyers should be aware of is that these eneloops (and most/all NiMH rechargeables) are only capable of a peak 1.2v output. Your standard Duracell non-rechargeable battery is 1.5v.

What this means is that some devices will be incapable of running with them due to insufficient voltage, and those that do run might do so at a weaker power. For example, I can't put my eneloops into any of my children's toys because it causes them to go slow and weak if they even start. My front door smart lock won't run on these at all.

Just something to keep in mind when purchasing!

what is the lifetime of this NiMH rechargable battery? I bought mine during COVID and now it won't charge anymore as the charger gives me a blinking green (not charging) instead of solid green

Eneloops (NOT including rebrands) are basically the best NiMH money can buy. They are extremely high quality. Amazon's are nothing special and have pretty poor quality control. That said, Amazon is the only brand I've seen in that price range that doesn't give their batteries outright fraudulent ratings. Some of theirs even overperform, compared to their rated capacity. In general, you shouldn't expect the Amazon batteries to have as good quality, consistency, self-discharge rate, or overall/cycle lifespan. That said, in my experience, they're not actually bad. At the right price, I think they may be worth considering.

The lifespan depends on the battery and how it's used. Also, higher capacity models will have a significantly shorter lifetime. For regular capacity models (~2000mAh for AAs), I usually see ~10+ years with mild use, even for mediocre brands. With high capacity models, I would expect less than 10 years, even for the best quality, and with light use.

Many chargers will reject batteries that I'd still consider perfectly fine, either due to low voltage or rising internal resistance. Make sure the contacts on both the charger and the batteries are clean.

Do NOT use a charger meant only for NiMH with any form of lithium. Some chargers can do multiple types. Be aware, the Lithium-Ion AAs/AAAs need specific (and potentially proprietary) chargers. You should generally only charge them with the charger meant for that specific model. These should NOT be charged with regular Lithium-Ion chargers.

i thought so too, i think the battery still fine, so how do i 'force' the charger to charge my NiMH battery?

Yes, still my favorite game in the entire world! My entire guild and my city sat there as they shut the servers down forever. I spent so much time on that game, made so many friends. Was very sad to see it go and I tried the revival/they call it Legends now, but it wasn't the same. Not enough people, it felt empty, but that's because the world moved on to other games.

I look back now and feel like I wasted a chunk of my life on games, but honestly made so many real friends, so I think it was worth it. I would play 7 days a week back then and even set my alarm and get up twice a night to farm the Borgle bat cave, lol. I'd set my speeder to /way rori 900 -4935 and then park my character there every night. Made a ton of money off the drops in that cave and farming the Nightsisters with friends during the day. Also sat my alt account, Master Doctor in town and gave buffs for money, back when people lined up for them.
