I only see Mercers with plastic handles for cheaper than this one. Wouldn't full tang be better?

Personal preference but I like the bread knife with a curve near the handle, which makes slicing a bit easier.

I don't think it's a great knife at all. While I am a fan of wood handles and full tang this says German steel not German made. Not the same thing. It's like how some online sellers are selling Denso car electronic parts that there quality comes from being made in Japan. These off shot cheaper products are made in China and don't last. Maybe good in the short term at this price

I'll let you know if the blade ever falls out of my bread knife. Yeah it's handle is plastic. So are victorinox knives that are also better than the one in this deal but those are more expensive.

Yes it is made in China. If you want a knife actually made in Germany, Amazon has a Wüsthof 8" bread knife for $75.
