If you're reading these words, then you probably already know about Allen Edmonds quality, even on Factory Seconds.

But if these are your first Allen Edmonds, don't impulse buy, because you need to know which Allen Edmonds shoe size you are. Allen Edmonds shoes are created using different lasts (feet shapes). Also, every manufacturer seems to have their own interpretations of what each shoe size is (in other words, just because you wear shoe size D10 in Nike/Adidas/Cole Haan doesn't mean that's your shoe size with Allen Edmonds).
Now some of you (especially younger shoppers) might think to just buy multiple sizes online and then return all but 1. But keep in mind that there is a $25 restocking fee on Factory Second returns [shoebank.com]. Therefore, do not buy if you are unsure about your shoe size.

I wear sizes 11 to 12 on pretty much everything. Bought some McAllisters and the size 10 is still like 2 sizes big for me. I have no idea how they size their shoes.

So definitely listen to this guy's(gal's) words. Also, recommend researching on quality. Allen Edmunds are not the same today.

Some time in the past (maybe 10+ years ago), all Allen Edmonds shoes were made in the US and they were predominantly goodyear welt. That is not true today as some/many of their shoes are made overseas and not all of them are recraftable. AE still makes great shoes from their traditional line and may be worth the investment when they are on sale. If you can find an AE store to try on some of their shoes, it will be easier to find the right size and last that will fit.
Many shoe experts recommend English shoe companies, but they are usually at a much higher price range and it is hard to find them to try on unless you live in NYC.
