these look like a scam to me. They can only 'catch colors' they come in contact with so why wouldn't your whites catch the same colors?

I use a version of this, and it works well for jeans that bleed anything that bleeds, it catches the color in the wash rather then let it spread out.

Personally I wouldn't trust these. If I get something new that might bleed in the wash just to be safe I wash it once on its own.
