Posted this a few hours ago on reddit. I actually reviewed this a few days ago (with a 4060 TI), in the video I also plopped in a 5070TI, which run perfectly.

Note: ZERO proprietary parts on these. Runs cool too with good airflow.

OMEN software allowed fan tuning in windows.

Excellent deal for 16gb of vram. Don't think it'll get better than this.

I checked again and this randomly popped up in good condition around me, only one so I snapped it up. Anyone get this thing yet and have some feedback?
I'm coming from an 8th gen i7 with a 1060 6GB so I can't really compare to a more modern system. Mine updated the BIOS to one dated 10/25/2025. You can enter BIOS with the escape key, just have to time it (maybe spam every few seconds). Inside BIOS you have some component testing utilities (memory, hard drves, CPU) to do a quick check, in I believe the section is start up, an advanced option to change memory settings. There's a higher preset, I think it was called OHG, that runs 6000 CL 44. It ran fine in BIOS, and it was set for it when I checked, but CPU-Z still say 5200 which is the default timing. The part number is on the memory stick, when I searched it I came up with 6000 but I'm wondering if I may have read the wrong part or something. It was $170 for a matching part number 16GB chip on EBay, Amazon, NewEgg, Microcenter, and maybe Walmart we're all OOS. Kingston Fury RGB.
It was pretty easy to install a mechanical HDD, the connections are right by the cage which has a handy 3.5" sliding hard drive holder. I went with a large capacity HDD rather than matching second stick for dual channel memory, not sure if I could even activate it. I also added a PCIe card, it was a bit of a pain removing the brace for the GPU and case but it holds it well even without a screw to mount the card.
It ran 3660 on 3dMark Nomad, it says average is 3770 for this hardware config for whatever it's worth. Installs, no problem. The bloat was mainly Microsoft, I deleted a lot of stuff I didn't think I'd use and just installed Malwarebytes for AV. I use Librewolf with NoScript and uBlock, no problems syncing. Overall a very positive experience.

I picked this up and it ran fine through set up. Have it download some stuff and walked away. Came back to the shrieking sound I've ever heard. I'd say not coil whine but a broken fan in the PSU or something.

Looks like w regular ATX PSU. Debating buying one to drop in (HP warranty will take too long before return period is up) or just return it. I updated BIOS but that didn't do anything

Received my OBE purchase, desktop is in mint condition. It did come with 2 8GB DIMMs instead of 1 16GB like documentation states. How was the DIMM configuration for anybody else?

Mine had 1 16GB.
Open Box Fair condition. No power cable in the box and some minor scuffs on the bottom of one side panel which aren't visible when in use. Otherwise, everything looks and runs great.

I also had two 8Gb ones. Tower looks okay even though it came in a literal open box with the flaps cut like it came from a thrift store. Keyboard and mouse kinda yellow.

Thanks for the info. I was wondering if someone bought the pc and swapped the memory DIMM before returning it as people occasionally report that type of abuse. I do see customer pics on BB showing 2 DIMMs. HP must have used whatever stock they had available. Wish it was a single DIMM since it would be easier to upgrade to 32GB. A great deal nonetheless. Thanks Op!

The deal is not dead. Actually they are still adding more stock from time to time. I just placed an order in the last hour. It's about as good as it gets for now. Only challenge is how to come up with additional 16GB of ram without spending a fortune.... That is said probably a lot of games would run just fine with 16GB.

I am still debating driving to pick one of these up - did the motherboard look like a standard ATX or proprietary? I would hope that if the PSU is standard then maybe the MB is as well - did you end up swapping out the PSU?

Well it looks standard and takes standard ATX from what I understand but it is absolutely proprietary. BIOS menu is pretty bare. I was just reading about a case where someone was having weird issues with cpu fluctuations and the issue went away when they replaced the mobo. I notice the temp is a little hot in the omen monitoring software (which is not half bad btw) at idle. That PSU coil whine does not come on right away btw. Sometimes it takes awhile and then it starts going. It is 100% the PSU. I dunno where I read it was modular but it is absolutely not so I would have to redo the wiring. What I have played though, I love this PC though as a 1080p gamer. Cyberpunk, GTA5, Control... all run in their ray trace max settings at close to 60fps. And I have a feeling this is the best value I can get unless I can get a 5070&32gb build for $1100. But sketched out about all the omen stuff I read so idk

Deal is really dead now. Price is up 100+. Glad I picked one. The price was better than BF prices.

Hi, Thanks for the great info. I was under the impression that Omen 35L only supports NvME not HDD, but seems like I was wrong all this time.
Does it have at least two SATA ports? If so it would be great because I'm upgrading from a PC with 2 non-NvME SATA SSDs, it would be really great if I can reuse them without buying the new expensive NvMEs at peak pricing.

Mine had two 8 GB ones... I had planned to add one 16 GB to make 32 GB. I talked about this with Bestbuy customer service, but the option they provided was only returning.

I experienced a similar high-pitched noise after gaming. I opened the case and checked the noise source, and it was near the CPU, not the bottom where the PSU is. I manually adjusted the CPU fan but the noise didn't change.

I couldn't find anything on the web about how to install a mechanical drive, it has a cage but I only saw one. The one connector was pushed into the cage and the other was under the motherboard on the right side of the case. I didn't look for more connections on the motherboard.
