Garmin is definitely feeling the heat lately because of " wanna be Apple " approach, look at all these deals on their expensive watches in recent months.
I hope they go down, greedy company.

They make these in smaller sizes. I have this in the 51mm size and it's fine on me at 5-9 155 lbs and a distance runner. I also have a Forerunner 955 47mm and the difference in size during everyday use is not that noticeable. The weight is more noticeable than the size IMO but it's still not an issue.

Garmin is not trying to be Apple. If anybody is threatened it is Apple and Samsung, by Garmin. They are apples and oranges though. I was a Samsung user for years, starting with the Galaxy watch 1 and then the 2 Active, skipped the 3. I had the 4 Classic and I currently have a 4 and a 7. I was never happy with the battery life of the watches. I have been looking at the Garmins for quite some time but didn't want to fork out so much money for one. I bought this very watch during the pre-Christmas sales (paid $429).
When I first got this watch I was not happy with the band. Lots of buttons and a new OS took some time to adjust to but I'm fine with it now. I replaced the stock band with a nylon band and it's been awesome. Like so many other reviewers, I thought the flashlight was kind of cool, but not particularly useful. Like those reviewers, I, too, surprisingly love the feature. Go figure.
I've put my galaxy watches in my closet and only wear the Garmin now. It is just as comfortable, albeit a bit bulkier and heavier, as the Galaxies. I forget that I have it on. I don't enjoy wearing it while sleeping, but I didn't like wearing the smaller/lighter Galaxies while sleeping either.

You couldn't be more wrong about that assessment of Garmin. They are definitely not trying to be an Apple watch. Apple watches generally have a completely different target customer base and purpose... generally being used as an extension of their phone with fitness tracking capabilities and horrific battery life. Garmin watches on the other hand are geared more towards being a dedicated fitness tracking device with tremendous durability and battery life and some more the more functional smart features that can be used during athletics, such as Garmin Pay (in case you're out running/cycling without your phone or wallet and need to buy something in a pinch) and the ability to store music onboard so you can exercise without your phone and still have music if that's important to you. The flashlight on Fenix watches is tremendously useful too.

Tell any Apple watch owner who has had their watch for a while how long your Garmin lasts and watch the fury build up almost instantly in their face as they try to cope with the fact that their watch lasts maybe 12-14 hours without even doing any GPS recording while many Garmin watches can go weeks without a charge while actually being used many times to record GPS tracking on runs and bike rides. I have 3 different friends who have always been die-hard Apple fanboys that all switched to Garmin watches in the past 2 years when they saw how insanely long the battery life is on my Garmin watches and they all seem extremely satisfied with their decision the last I checked. The absurdly poor battery life of Apple cannot overcome the other features that may make it more daily-usable in some people's eyes.

Garmin has generally held true to their dedication to being a fitness-first product line with their watches, while sprinkling in some smart features and bling (LED screens, LTE, etc) in some of their latest watches. I personally think that a Garmin watch with a 1+ month battery, MIP display, sapphire glass, and titanium ring around the screen with a high waterproof rating is the perfect watch for what I need it to do as an athlete.

Not even close. Garmin has their own market catered to athletes, divers, and pilots. Their products are excellent and extremely durable. I was an iWatch user up to the Apple Watch 6 but switched to the Fenix 6x 4 years ago. I finally upgraded to the 7x last month (For one of the $450 deals posted here) and couldn't be happier.
Garmin watches are all about activity tracking and specialized use cases - diving, golf, flying planes, and athletic tracking.

Same here. I use it for flight tracking and activities, and I really like the GPS accuracy and battery life. Having to charge my fruit watch every day was annoying. Everyone has different perspectives and preferences.👍
