This 5070 deal ain't bad at all, especially considering it's Amazon and brand new.
12 GB is fine. 16 will be better 5 years from now but this should do the job till then.

Also, for anyone saying this is the first time they have done this, it isn't. They discontinued Vega support within a year of them shipping chips with Vega graphics.
I think it would be a mistake to count on long-term driver support from AMD based on recent history.
When AMD figures out how to get that part right then I'd be all for it.

What is super unclear is what is going to happen on the lower end of the market. It is likely that the 9060 XT 16GB and 5060 Ti 16GB will either be outright discontinued or just made in such small quantities that nobody can actually buy them for a reasonable price. This is just my speculation but I am wondering if they keep making the 5050. Increased RAM cost could make that product completely non-viable given it's price. I doubt very much that nvidia is going to lower the cost to the AIBs. To be honest, I am not certain that the 5060, 5060 Ti 8GB and 9060 XT 8GB will actually see price increases. Those cards weren't selling well at MSRP before. I wouldn't be surprised if they just went back to selling at or slightly over MSRP as opposed to getting actual price increases. We will see I guess.
The 5070 is perhaps the most interesting because it sits in the middle between the 8GB entry level cards and the 16GB cards. I think its fate will be, at least partially, tied to the 9070. I don't think the 5070 can be at the same price point as the 9070. The 5070 will represent too poor a value in comparison.
It is also rumored that they are increasing manufacturing for the RTX 3060. If true, I suspect those cards will mostly be destined for the OEM market and not retail consumers.

I suspect that neither company will actually discontinue them. I suspect they will just stop requiring the AIBs to purchase them and let them silently disappear.
