FYI - I bought an Eddie Bauer backpack over a decade ago specifically because they were offering a lifetime warranty. I replaced it once about 5 years after that, no problem, but then just the other day tried to replace it again after the strap began to tear off, and discovered Eddie Bauer phased out the lifetime warranty in recent years. Citing new ownership, the clerk refused to honor the lifetime warranty I bought the backpack under. Given they no longer have or honor the lifetime warranty, I see no reason to ever buy their products again. Buyer beware, I suppose.

I was told by their customer service that return, exchange and warranty are now only covered for 60 days from the purchase date. The new owner is JCPenny. Feels like the good days of product quality, reasonable prices and warranty are behind us for Eddie Bauer.

You had a pretty good run. Is this a principle thing or are you just a cheapskate?
This doesn't feel like much of a deal since clearance is ALWAYS 40%, 50%, or 60% off, so today is at most 10% less than any other day this month.
Clearance was 60% off from 12/17 until 12/29. Then, 50% started on 12/31. I think it was briefly 40% after that before going back to 50%.
