Any electric desk experts know if this is fine for a simple home PC setup? Just buy some cheap countertop and secure it to the frame?

I bought this one weeks ago similar price, very solid quality, yes put some top board from IKEA even homedepot, you wont regret.

You can find dual motor ones for cheaper every now and then, but those usually have a 175lb weight limit. I think I am going to jump on this. Have a desk already, will just use that top.

Also, the white version is $6 more.

Yes but it is more quality than it is cheap, most shipped Amazon desks have thin particle board. So with this you can get a solid single piece counter top. You can even secure some 2x4s as the base and attach pretty much anything, such as a live edge slab to make a desk out of. It is a solid desk and not wobbly

I had an old desk from 2002, and I removed the MDF legs and put the desktop on this. Works great. I have the model with the older controller.

Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced 3 stage frame? 28" minimal height seems way to tall for proper ergonomics even with me being 6'0".

Same. Cut out the top of my desk and threw this underneath. Looks like a normal desk from the outside and lifts up to standing position. Butcher block is a breeze to work with.
