⚠️ Unlock Policy Notice – Please Read
With recent FCC deregulation, prepaid carriers are no longer federally mandated to unlock devices after 60 days.
As of now, Total Wireless and other Verizon-owned MVNOs have not officially updated their published unlock policies. However, these carriers have made retroactive policy changes in the past.
Because of this, there is some risk that unlock timing could change. If you require guaranteed unlocking, please consider this before purchasing.
✔ Still a strong value if activated under current policy
✔ Buy before any official policy changes are announced

With the recent FCC deregulation, unlock after 60 days is no longer mandated. Total and other Verizon owned MVNOs have not updated their official unlock policies yet, but they have done so retroactively in the past so there is some amount of risk here if you need this phone to be unlocked.

I read about the FCC term, the new term only applies to the handsets activated after the new term released. So I believe we can complain to the FCC if the carriers wouldn't unlock the handsets that were activated prior to the new rules.

I hope you are right but I am not optimistic.
The last time they retroactively changed their policy, I filed an FCC complaint and it did nothing. I still had to pay for a 2nd month for the unlock despite activating under the previous policy.

Yep, got letter a few days ago and I'm really PO'd about it. TW said Veriff would only keep the info for a limited amount of time and my purchase was back in early June, should not have been accessible.

If I don't have paid service after 60 days, can I still use the phone on WIFI only thereafter? I hope TF don't lock down the WIFI as well.
