Just bought my first multimeter to test my historic pile of coin/button batteries. Excited.
Hate to break it to you, but that'll only test the open circuit voltage of the battery. You need to test it with a load, however small that might be. I've had plenty of coin cell batteries that read a much higher voltage with a MM, but were actually dead with a proper tester, reading a much lower and often even ak unusable voltage.
