The Acer Aspire 14 AI stands out as a lightweight, travel friendly 14 inch laptop with strong battery life, fast Intel Quick Sync encoding, and solid everyday performance for browsing, office work, and light gaming. The matte touchscreen, bright keyboard, and near new refurb condition with low battery cycle counts make it feel close to retail. The main concerns are inconsistent refurb listings and occasional mismatched specs, plus reports of weak speakers, IPS glow, fan noise, and docked sleep issues over USB C or HDMI. A capable all around machine if the received configuration matches the order.

Common Questions (5)

  • The listing has been inconsistent: some units labeled 32GB arrived as Ultra 7 258V with 32GB, while others were reported as Ultra 5 226V with 16GB or even 8GB/512GB instead of 16GB/1TB. The safest expectation is that the posted specs may not match what ships, so verify the model sticker and be ready to return if needed.

  • It is a matte touchscreen with recessed glass, not edge-to-edge flat glass. The panel is described as anti-reflective for work, but some units were noted for IPS/backlight glow and screen color that is only okay rather than standout.

  • Battery life can be very strong: one unit reported about 12-16 hours in regular use and up to 22 hours in Eco mode, with 100% battery health and low cycle counts on arrival. Battery cycle counts do not reset, so a refurb may still show prior use even if it looks nearly new.

  • An Allstate 2-year eBay warranty has been handled efficiently in at least one case, with a full cash refund when the product was discontinued. Another concern is that physical damage such as a broken hinge may not be covered, so mechanical failures can still be denied.

  • Light gaming is workable, with reported performance around 30-45 fps and Lunar Lake integrated graphics handling many games well, though specific titles vary. Docked use may be a problem because one unit repeatedly went to sleep after a few minutes over USB-C or HDMI to a monitor.

Does your laptop comes with a "default" local user with admin privilege and anyone can login with no password?

I am trying to understand if this is normal. If I should factory reset it again.
So when you first booted up the laptop, it didn't go thru the Windows 11 setup to create a user? You could login to Windows 11 out of the box using this "default" user?

When I went thru the setup, I created a local account since I don't want to create a new Microsoft account just to be able to login to the laptop (https://www.tomshardware.com/how-...ft-account).

No, when it boots up, it prompts me to go through setup and I logged in with my microsoft account. After a lengthy setup including downloading and installing some updates, I entered my desktop. That's when I noticed there is another user account named "default". I logged out and try to login as "default" and it requires no password but it also leads me through the setup. I am under the impression that I will be able to create an admin account through this process.

Open PowerShell, run this command powercfg /batteryreport /output "C:\battery-report.html", then open the file it created. My laptop came with many Acer programs pre-installed, but I uninstalled them all immediately, so I'm not sure if that one was among them.
Thanks. My battery showed a cycle count of 1 from the report. I also see now that the AcerSense app shows the same info so they must have replaced the Acer Care Center app (that I have on an older Acer laptop) with this app on newer laptops.

For posterity - I ordered the 32gb option. It is in fact an Ultra 7 258V with 32 gb RAM and Arc 140v GPU. The Acer model is N24Q14. I'm pretty happy with it.

Yep got Ultra 7 258V. Battery had 35 cycles on it but still is nearly 100% capacity. Everything about it is pretty good so far. The screen and speakers as others mentioned are just okay, but that was expected.

Has anyone else experienced a static noise coming from the battery area on this laptop while it is on?

I just removed the default user account and hoped that it is normal.
