Tempted for the 32gb but after using apple's trackpad I can't go back also Windows is so bad. One youtube I saw compared Windows vs OSX for new laptops, it was such a joke the # of reboots. This is my first Macbook, used Windows since the 80s and never understood why people use Mac's but am a believer now.

How's the screen quality for you tube and movies watching?
Does it have backlit keys?

Watching video looks ok to good(7/10) with decent speaks(5/10). colors aren't overstated. plays up to 8k with strong av1 decoder.

keyboard(9/10) is good with type with bright keys (2 settings)

Two year warranty is great! I don't have experience with computer warranty with Allstate. Are they reliable?
its allstate squaretrade, they usually spend you a check 80% of the time

I got the 16 inch version of this with the OLED screen and 256v processor (same hard 16GB memory limit.) Sound is pretty terrible, and the touchpad goes wonky from time to time but for $494 I can't complain. The upcoming Panther Lake versions of these will smoke the Lunar Lake versions and the haptic trackpad will be a huge plus but the price will be much higher of course.
thats only half true. only the $1000-1500 Panther Lake Ultra 9 x9 has 12xe core gpu with 50% boost in gaming. A rare 10 core binned gpu.

the cheaper Ultra 5 ,7 Panther Lake $500-1000 have 4xe and 8xe cores, so probably 10-20% gaming boost

I sent a message to them asking what's the exact model # of the laptops and got this response.

I did the same, because it is actually a 258v or a 288v or a free return. Because otherwise 32 gb memory and/or 140v graphics are a lie. I don't know about hoping for the 288v though (and it might not even be better for my purposes, but I'd go either way. It is a pretty marginal performance upgrade for a lot more power consumption going from 258v to 288v).
It sounds like people are getting LLM hallucination responses in these support questions.
Or a 228v

I did some research and looked back at a previous post of this Acer 32gb model on SlickDeals and it confirms my thoughts. See here: https://slickdeals.net/f/18926419-cert-refurb-acer-aspire-14-ai-14-fhd-ips-touch-intel-ultra-5-226v-32gb-lpddr5-1tb-ssd-485-99?p=180962134#post180962134

In the market for a new cheap laptop. Previous one was the Acer Aspire 3 15 (with 16GB RAM and low end Ryzen 5) I bought almost exactly 2 years ago from eBay with AllState/SquareTrade warranty. The hinge on that one recently broke and they won't cover it under warranty since it's physical damange, even though it's a mechanical failure of the hing and a manufacturing design flaw. Googling that model, the hinge breaking is a common issue.

This is a higher end Acer, but afraid to be in the same situation in 2 years with warranty not covering anything.

Aspire is Acer basic line, it not high end like Swift X oled qhd ($400-1200)

I still have two working Aspire 15.6 after 10-15 years. they last as long you keep they open like a desktop. over 500 open and closing, they will break. even thinkpad and latitude hinges break after 1000-2000 opening. So get any laptop, just buy extra hinges. Business grade latitude 258v are $600-800, older 12 gen is under $300.

Just got the 32GB version in the mail. The model number shown on the sticker on the back says: A14-52MT-701K. This indeed has Ultra 7 258V, not Ultra 5.
