Top comment on a YouTube review of this:

"Not a Native 4K sensor. 2.5K sensor but upscales to 4K recording. There is a reason they do not say which Starvis 2 sensor they use, and customer support will not tell you as it is "proprietary" All the other camera companies that use Native 4K processors are happy to state which image sensor they use."

And apparently only records at 25fps.

I bought two to try out (well, open one and test, return both if it's all a lie), because I've been sitting on a couple VIOFO cams for 2-3 years that I've yet to install in our two newer vehicles. I've been dashcam-less since selling our last vehicles in 2023 and 2024. Not even sure where they are after moving houses, but I can probably uncover them. I hope to dig them out within 30 days and compare to my A129 Pro though - in theory this one would be better, if it's legit, with the newer generation of Sony sensor.

Ideally it'd be easy to disassemble to at least look at the chips to see if they are marked with a legit model number. Not that chip labeling isn't faked, and at this price (or $40 as the one guy said) I'd think the sensors are not legit Sony IMX678. I hope to be able to verify one way or another whether these are fake, and return if I find that to be true. I'm leaning toward these not being legit STARVIS 2 sensors, just based on the lack of details on the manufacturer's site (LLMs claim they aren't published either), and price. Supposedly the genuine Sony sensors would be quite a large chunk of this price, not that I can find real wholesale pricing on them.

But yeah, I expect either lies for both sensors, the front sensor to be some generic and the rear to use a cheap STARVIS 2MP sensor (for them to claim the kit has a STARVIS 2), or the front is STARVIS (2) 8MP, and the rear some generic sensor. My plastic pry tools will be getting some use tomorrow.

In any case, I had a CPL on my main vehicle's old VIOFO to cut through windshield glare. That alone may be worth paying more for their dashcams, for that filter option. I'd still always use a Mobius second front cam with a zoom (12mm?) lens to better catch plates. A third camera with different exposure would also help to under-expose to catch plates at night. It's the same thing one needs to do for all surveillance situations if you want full details - wide angle for observation, detail cam for identification, and maybe a third blown-highlight camera for reflective plates. For the most part just observing is enough for claims, and we don't even need 1080p for that.

Bought 2. Install was easy with the included pry bar. It took me about 30 mins to do. The video looks great. The reviews and posted review videos I found online were all good. For $50, you get a bunch of features, it's a great option. I mainly only care about the 4K front camera. If you rear end me, your plates will be 100% visible with 1080P. If you want 4K front and rear, let me know when you find one for $50.
So far, no issues. BTW, if you have an iPhone and can't get the app to connect, to the camera, someone posted the new setting you need to change for it to connect.

I bought one. I don't need pristine video quality. Just good enough to prove who is at fault in an accident. I also don't want to spend $200 on a camera that ends up getting fried in the AZ heat.

Looks like a good buy at this price. Anyone else have experience with this cam?
Bought one on a bf deal, pretty much garbage, just like any cam that will come up here at around $50 price point. They are all just rebranded/repackaged version of the same stuff.

Is anyone planning on opening their unit up to see if it is a Starvis 2? If so, please post what you find.

I bought it at $40, only used it for around 2 months and it is solid so far. The image quality (I only use the front camera) and build quality definitely worth the price.
Are you able to see the number plates in the recorded video?

Just got mine delivered this AM. Notice the factory box is black versus all the reviews/unboxing for the P1 Pro is white. Curious if anyone that got one recently, what color did yours come in?
As for the sensor, found a video from a reviewer that went to 2026 CES that says it is a Starvis 2 IMX675, so technically 2K sensor.
Timestamp at 4:30.

In some states a windshield mount is illegal. I don't really see, given the shape of the cam and the angle of the lens, how one would mount it anyplace else. The closest one might come is to have it mounted to the 'street side' of the rearview mirror. But that might be an invitation to thieves to break in and grab it. Don't see how one might attach it successfully to a beanbag dashboard device. Anyone have an idea that would work for non-windshield mount, especially one where you could hid the dashcam when you leave the car?

Are there any commercially available Dashcams that enhances the license plates of cars like the ones used by police?

I bought two, and got a different box for each. The label is also different. The white box doesn't have Starvis 2 but the black box does I have not open it yet.

Thanks for sharing. I got the black box version also. Just opened mine, very nicely packaged too. My first dash cam😅, can't wait to install. Wondering if the optional hardwire kit for $25 is worth it. Couldn't get the 50% off to stick with the dash cam order.

Contact amazon customer service. They gave me 50% of for that one. Otherwise, hardwire only has still 10% discount coupon.
