LG's C5 OLED stands out for its bright 4K picture, strong Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos playback, and a premium home theater experience. The LG Partner Store path can land it closer to $1,134 to $1,202 with coupon, free shipping, and even free wall mount and installation. For best results, the setup needs 48 Gbps Ultra High Speed HDMI cables, especially with an AVR, and DTS passthrough is gone on the C5 and G5 series. Warranty details matter too, since the Costco plan reportedly skips burn in protection.
65" OLED buyers who want to preserve Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos through an AVR because commenters say you may need two 48Gbps Ultra High Speed HDMI 2.1 cables (player→AVR and AVR→TV) or you can get downgraded output at the TV.
people buying from the LG Partner Store who want an easier setup because commenters report free wall mount and professional installation (with taxes included in the total).
buyers who are comparing against other OLEDs and want to know warranty coverage because one commenter confirms that purchasing this TV on eBay still includes the full standard LG warranty.
home theater setups that use an AVR/soundbar and want to avoid eARC audio quirks because commenters advise plugging the primary media player into the receiver (instead of relying on eARC through the C5/G5) since DTS passthrough was removed on these models.
buyers planning to use eARC for DTS passthrough because commenters note the C5/G5 series removed DTS passthrough, so eARC may not deliver the audio format they expect.
OLED buyers who specifically rely on burn-in coverage from the retailer warranty because a commenter says the Costco warranty they saw doesn't include burn-in protection.
buyers who want to avoid potential long repair hassles if the panel fails early because one commenter reports an LG OLED manufactured in Oct 2024 failed about a month after one year and LG initially resisted before agreeing to a repair that still didn't complete all promised work.
Yes, but the full output depends on using 48Gbps Ultra High Speed HDMI cables. If you run a player to an AVR and then AVR to TV, both cables need to be Ultra High Speed or the TV can downgrade the signal and you may lose Dolby Vision/Atmos output.
No, the C5/G5 series removed DTS passthrough. For DTS-capable sources, the practical workaround is to connect the primary media player directly to the TV or to an HDMI 2.1-capable receiver/soundbar instead of relying on eARC through the TV.
The LG Partner Store price can drop to about $1,134 after using code Hulu 10 on the listed $1,259 price. Another reported checkout total was $1,202.03 with taxes included, plus free shipping, wall mount, and installation.
Yes, the eBay purchase is reported to include the full standard LG warranty. That makes it closer to a normal retail purchase for warranty coverage, though it does not add burn-in protection like some third-party plans.
Solid advice! Before anyone says "just use eARC", the C5/G5 series removed DTS passthrough. Assuming whatever receiver or soundbar you have supports HDMI 2.1, it's best to plug in your primary media player to that, rather than use eARC through the C5.
I didn't know about them removing DTS passthru on eArc. My AVR only supported Arc, not eArc anyway. But i added in the info about the 2 UHS HDMI cables to save people some troubleshooting time. I originally got only 1 UHS hdmi cable to go from player to AVR. When I looked on the "status page" on the player it said it was outputting Dolby Vision / Dolby Atmos but the AVR was not outputting it to TV according to the front panel display on AVR. I fiddled with so many AVR and TV settings trying get the sound and video at best possible level and nothing worked.... and then I had the EUREKA moment about the HDMI cable going from AVR to TV being non ultra high speed HDMI 2.1. After I replaced it with proper cable everything worked flawlessly. Again just trying to save people the hair pulling and frustration I went through trying to troubleshoot the issue.
just giving people a heads up i bought a oled manufactured by lg in oct 24 and the screen shit the bed like a month after one year and lg more or less told me to pound sand. after enough phone calls and bitching I got them to agree to repair it which they did via local third party TV repair and even they didnt do some of the work they said they would be doing and didnt replace one of the boards they assured me they were going to. that part obv isnt lgs fault but a 1400$ tv dying after like a year and a month and them not backing their product is kind of nonsense. the repair men i spoke to told me lg actually ends up spending more by not just giving me a replacement which is comical.
This is why I wanted to get the extended warranty. I am weary of LG after I had an LG that did not last very long (it was a lower end mid-range TV however). I have also read horror stories about the Samsung S90D's too. A friend has an older LG Oled and it has been going strong for about 5 years now so I thought I would give LG another try. I hope it lasts.
It's not that hard to believe. I got a 48" C4 for $250ish at Best Buy last year when the C5s came out. You just gotta be in the store when the transitions happen. It was open box, but still had the plastic on the screen. Got a crazy cheap 3 year extended warranty with it too.

RTIngs just finished their 2 year stress test- TCL and LG were the strongest in terms of reliability
I got this TV from Costco a week before Black Friday for $1150 and it included a 5 year warranty. So this is a solid deal. Everyone (Best Buy, Sams, Costco and BJs) has this at about $1399 now. The TV is awesome. I paired it with a Panasonic UB-820K 4k player (FYI: make sure you buy 2 ultra high speed HDMI cables - 48 gbps to actually get Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. I say 2 cables if you are using an AVR that supports HDMI 2.1. One cable from 4k player to AVR and one cable from AVR to TV. If either are not Ultra High Speed cables then you will get downgraded output at the TV). 2001: A Space Odyssey and Blade Runner in 4k are a sight to behold in 4k on this TV.
So helpful. Thanks!!
