There are tons of these knockoffs and they're all basically the same, save the form factor and battery. None of the have UWB to do the fine precision location that you can do with a real AirTag in the Find My app. But otherwise, they all can play some music and track the general positioning. They're good for luggage and stuff that won't be hard to find. But for keys and other items that can hide easily, real ones are better.

I'm looking to clone an Airtag like item to use with FindMyFlipper to have a my Flipper Zero show up on the Find My app. Anyone know if that would work with this?

These are crappy I purchased them and they didn't track correctly battery died after 17 days. The seller would not help with warranty . I had to send them back!

Do people really lose their keys that often?

I mean, people have keys for their home and their car -- their two most valuable possessions. I can't imagine losing access to either, let alone being habitual about such carelessness.

It's not for the "often." It's for the "once." Same thing with insurance for a house fire.

Ok, so you lose them once (or they get stolen, etc). You break out the spare set of keys kept in a safe location (in addition to the set hidden elsewhere on the property in case you get locked out). That's more akin to insurance. I mean, to lose one's keys habitually is mind boggling. 🤣
Like why do you care what people buy and for what reason? You be your frugal ass self and live your best life.

So inexpensive that I have been putting them into coat pockets, even attaching them to tools that I tend to forget to put away 😂. Looks ridiculous attached to a beaten up pry bar or sledge hammer, but those are among the two that go missing the most.

I lose so many that I've made myself completely keyless. My car doesn't start unless I have my phone on me (which means I never forget my phone). I have number keypad on my doors, all my credit cards are in apple wallet and everything spare is in my car in case I need it. Life is amazing when there's no weight in your pockets

So, what happens when your phone gets stolen? Or dropped/broken? Or runs out of power?

You can't drive your car and you can't buy anything unless you have cash (which you probably don't, let's be honest). All your spares are inside your car, which you can't get into.

Your science experiment sounds amazing until something goes wrong. Then it sounds like an unmitigated disaster. You're one poorly-written software update away from walking home. 🤣

Sometimes, there's elegance in simplicity.

I lost my keys once at the gym (before having an AirTag) and having to go the dealership and get a replacement cost a lot more than an AirTag!

...which brings me back to my original point, people lose the keys to their most and 2nd most expensive (and most used, most important) possessions? This completely and utterly baffles me.

I doubt anyone wanting to mitigate risk gives a shit about what baffles you; however, what baffles me is you can't come up with a single scenario in which someone accidentally loses their keys. Have you ever had keys?
