This is a 'good deal' in the sense that it costs less than what you'd normally pay, but you'd be better served by buying one actual good chef's knife or santoku.

It's a 'buy once, cry once" thing with good knives. You'll be passing them down to your grandchildren.
Search HENCKELS Classic Precision Knife Block Set, 16 Piece in the Macys site. This set is selling for 2-4X elsewhere still. I bought a set, they might suck but they seem fairly well built for an unusually low price right now.

If you spend the time to look at reviews for the "statement" line of henckels. They are not equal to other henckels lines. They are their budget offering. Every review or inquiry out there in the knife forums/subreddit/etc offers numerous comparable sets at a significantly lower price point.
