Materials have definitely changed, but I don't know if it's necessarily for the worse.
My Quasar backpack from several years ago is like 28L. The back foam is starting to wear and the right strap has started to fray and cinch. The have a great lifetime warranty where if they can't fix it, they'll replace it. But the current turnaround time is 6-8 weeks, and I use this thing every day to carry 2 laptops as well as other stuff with me every day, so I haven't been motivated to send it in and struggle for a few months...
Now, after a trip to a local sporting goods store, I saw the new one. It's now 26L and the materials don't "feel" as rugged. The back foam feels softer and doesn't run the full back. The exterior has handled all kinds of weather, use, and environments. I could be wrong, I'm really not an expert in materials. But my current one lasted almost six years, and I think that's pretty fair.
What is the free shipping code? Not coming up for me...
Open up sierra.com in an incognito window, a pop up should appear to sign up for the newsletter to get a free shipping code. The code seems to be unique or I would share the one I got.
The ones for $31 seem to be sold out, but there are two listings for the grey one. The original link is sold out, but try this one for grey at $31 https://www.sierra.com/osprey-arc...rFamily=01
This is a crummy jansport bag with ospey badge. This has nothing on it that makes osprey packs so great. Worth 30 as a book bag maybe. Or maybe a dad's diaper bag. Hah. But it is garbage for a true day hiking pack.

Maybe that's because it's not intended to be a hiking pack - Osprey lists it as an Everyday/Lifestyle pack. A hiking packs wouldn't have a laptop sleeve.

This is just intended as a general use, daily hauler of crap. Toss what you need for the day inside and go. It is not a hiking pack.

Blue is sold out, but it looks like the heather grey is still available.
