If you want something less expensive, look at the Vatrer https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FCXWH84H
You may be able to find others on Amazon.
I think the answer is that the solar port can only be input and requires the battery to be charged separately and would require the Exodus 2400 to use an external 48v battery. The Mega's expansion port supports input and output to recharge the external battery.
Yea, using the solar port will allow you to charge the unit, but can't charge the external battery with it, you will need a separate external charger (which you say you have). You can leave that charger attached to the battery and plugged into the wall, and the battery to the unit with no issues, and when power goes out, it should use the external battery first to power what you plug in (up to whatever the limit is on the solar input). When power comes back on, the battery will start recharging.

If you like to DIY. Used solar panels are fifty to sixty bucks on FB Marketplace. Stacks and stacks of high end ten to fifteen year old panels waiting to be re-used. Buy a few and let the system pay for itself. My entertainment wall and tech charging is all off grid now. Using Anker 2kWh w/ 2kWh expansion.
Comes with a 2 year all-state warranty. If it shits the bed at least that'll reimburse you the cost vs possibly having the company ghost you
