Manual Operation During WiFi Outages:
Touch control: You can physically press the switch paddle to turn lights on/off
Local control: The Tapo app can still control your switches via local network connection even when internet is down
Basic functionality: All standard lighting functions work normally without internet
What You'll Lose During WiFi Outage:
Voice control via Alexa/Google Assistant
Remote control when away from home
Scheduled automation and timers
Away mode security features
The switch is designed to function as a regular light switch first, with smart features as added benefits. So during outages, you'll have reliable manual control just like a traditional switch.

Certainly, but if you have an old house like ours, be ready to fight it a little bit. I had to find a bigger wire caps than the ones provided because of old, thick wires that were not malleable anymore. Make sure you own a pair of pliers and possibly a wire stripper.

I got Matter version of this a couple of weeks ago and they work great with Siri.

I would say a 5 minute job if you already have neutral wires in your switch boxes.

don't like the toggle style switches which only have one way to press for on and off. i prefer press up to turn on and down to turn off.

Other issue with these is on older houses (like mine from the 50s), is having the box space for them. Even if you can make it fit, there are code considerations.

Installed in my house. Works well but for it to work for Matter, you need to enable it via Apple Home first before using the Tapo application.

Yep. I swapped out most of my main room switches to these (well the Kasa version, which seamlessly transferred to Tapo, since all are tp-link). The one issue I ran into was multi-switch gang boxes got pretty tight with space and I had to buy a few face plates for the muti-switch boxes because these will only come with one unit face plates.
