The Osmo 7 is cheaper than 6 right now.

The 6's replacement is the 7P, not the 7. The 7 was introduced as a lower point entry point for DJI's gimbals. While it has some improvements, it's missing the extension rod. The MSRP on the 6 is $139, the MSRP on the 7 is $89, and the MSRP on the 7P is $149. AI/Google often gets similar products confused - there's no built in tripod on the 7. The 7 has always been cheaper than the 6, so make sure you get the features you want. If you like the 6 features (and the extension rod), the 7P is the upgrade, not the 7.
EDIT: 7P is currently $104 on sale, and 8 is actually released and at MSRP of $149.

Google search for "osmo 6 vs 7" produces:

The DJI Osmo Mobile 7 (OM 7) and 7P offer major upgrades over the OM 6, primarily longer 10-hour battery life, phone charging, faster setup with one-step unfolding, and built-in tripods (on 7/7P), while the OM 6 has a built-in extension rod but lacks these features; the 7P adds a Multifunctional Module for better tracking and a fill light, making it the premium choice, whereas the standard OM 7 provides core stabilization at a lower price, making it a great value upgrade over the OM 6 for most users.

For what it's worth, I bought one last week excellent open box from best buy for 61.99. Looked brand new and had some certs so it came out to $24.13. Great deal!

The 6 is FP and is $30 more than the newer 7. Am I missing something? I get SD "promotions" but this has 19 upvotes, are they fake or what?

Thank you for doing your part in the fight against AI slop and the lazy people who are so reliant on it. 🙂

How do these compare to the knockoff/generic brands that offer similar products for ~$50?

What's a knockoff/generic brand? At the end of the day, it either does the job well and has the quality & features needed or not, correct? Outside of aesthetics & intellectual property, many more "popular" brands are just are knockoffs of a cast with a few tweaks that may or may not matter much...
