That's expensive for a piece of metal with connectors. Probably costs them close to a dollar or two to manufacture and may be 10 dollars in overhead.
To be fair, you are also paying for precision manufacturing, (likely) several layers of QC which is much more extensive compared to most other items this size, R&D, etc plus all the normal stuff that typically gets costed in before any profit is enjoyed. Not like we are talking about a 1lb lead nugget.
