Looking for a (3) piece set of luggage and have been doing some research. I saw in another post you mentioned the Travelers Choice luggage at Costco. Looks like it's currently $199.99 but was on sale around Black Friday for $159.99. I believe it's PC material which is what I want correct?

Correct on all points including that it is polycarbonate.

I had previously reached out directly to the manufacturer for confirmation on that since it was not mentioned on the Costco web site.
(Requesting Shell Material Specification for Model TC09212W (Candlewood II) for which they confirmed it is 100% polycarbonate). Here is the email address for you to ask yourself: [email protected]

And yes, it was $159.99 on Black Friday.
The only issue is that that luggage is so well built that the largest luggage is kind of heavy relatively.

Thanks for the information and the email address. I will continue doing some research and see if something else comes along. Hopefully Costco will put the Candlewood II luggage on sale again soon. Maybe I should hit the weight room and bulk up a bit so I can handle the well built luggage Big Grin

So I went ahead and emailed Traveler's Choice and asked them what material the shell is made out of for the Candlewood II sold at Costco and what the warranty is. Here is the reply I got back:

Thank you for your interest in our products. I would be happy to answer any product questions you may have!

The Candlewood II is made of ABS material. The warranty duration is 3 years.

We hope this helps. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

-I can't believe it's ABS but that's what they said?

See the image that they sent me (that I uploaded). Now ask Costco to confirm the model number.

The crazy thing is that I just got another email from someone at Traveler's Choice that is different from the first email they sent me and it also says the Candlewood II is made of ABS and has a (3) year warranty. It's crazy the company would say that but honestly that info you posted looks solid to me. Unless they recently changed the material on the Candlewood II from PC to ABS for some (cost cutting) reason?

Correct me if I'm wrong but luggage made out of ABS is quite a bit lighter compared to PC isn't it? And I think it was posted that the big 28" piece in the Candlewood II set weighed in at a little over 12 lbs which doesn't seem like ABS to me. If it happens to go on sale again I'll think I'll take a chance on it and worse case I'll return it.

Yes, ABS is light and yes, someone said the 28" inch is heavy. But remember, the plastic body is covered by leatherette which could add to the weight.

1) I think you should wait for it to drop to $169.99
2) Buy it
3) Check the label on the bag. If it is PC, keep it. If not return it.

I am assuming that Travelers Choice also makes similar looking luggage but in ABS format. But Candelwood II is what COSTCO has, which may be PC.

Another update from Travelers Choice. I replied to the second email they sent and questioned them again whether the Candlewood II set at Costco was indeed ABS as I have found evidence online to the contrary. They emailed me back again today and said they confirmed it that the Candlewood II sold at Costco is indeed Polycarbonate (PC) and they apologized for the mix up. I'm keeping an eye on it waiting to see if the price does indeed drop but honestly even at $199 it seems like a great deal for a (3) piece.
