They do NOT charge. Color me not surprised. Not even sure how it got mixed up with my rechargeable pool.

Yes, my smoke detectors all use AA. The previous model I used years ago required 9V, but the more recently installed ones need AA, and lithium is recommended over alkaline for smoke detectors.

All depends on what you want to use them for. My furnace thermostat uses AAA batteries. I use these, because I know I won't wake up in the middle of the night freezing because the furnace didn't turn on. I won't have to worry about replacing the batteries for years. No rechargeable lithium AAA battery will last that long.

You're thinking of the type of lithium-ion batteries found in various consumer devices (e.g., cell phones and laptop computers). Just being a "lithium" battery doesn't make it rechargeable, and before referring to people who know the difference as "fools", you might do a little more research.
