they still have license/copy right for a few more years i believe...
i'm keeping my originalLine until then
Technically, its a patent. IIRC, vertuo pod patent expires sometime mid-2029.
We got a Vertuo Next back in May. While I do love the quality and ease of the experience, the price of pods was a bit steep and a short while after purchase, the price of pods went up again (roughly 10%).
I'm on the fence about continuing to use the Vertuo Next. We could return to Costco, go back to burr grinding whole beans, throwing it in a reusable K-Cup and doing French press. On the flip side, my kid and my wife have frequented the local coffee stands substantially less since buying the Nespresso, so we might be breaking close to even.
I am curious how Original compares to Vertuo though. Original Pod prices are very tempting. I've only had Professional and Vertuo pods and don't know anyone with Original to compare.

I had used both. I must agree the vertuo is better as it gives more foam which I do prefer... however, as far as taste and thickness, its very similiar... if vertuo is 90, originaline is around 80.
one big advantage is vertuo is able to make bigger cups similiar to k-cups which I find dilutes the taste and makes it taste just like k-cups.
