I did try to buy an open box one too and the 2 times I tried they both canceled. So today I gave up with the open box ones and was able to grab new one..

It looks like the product has been discontinued on Best Buy's site. You can't even buy it new anymore.

They're only making it with the full size x16 connector now. That's why they put this one with the half connector on sale. The half connector allows space for better thermal design, but provides a less secure connection
