The R1700BT speakers are among the best at their retail cost. At this price there's no competition. There are, of course, other speakers that sound better... but you'll pay twice this much to find them. If you missed the frontpage deal on them at the beginning of the year I can't recommend enough getting them now.

I wanted to upgrade to bookshelf speakers a few years back for my TV and computer sound. TV had a sound bar, and computer just had monitor sound/headphones. I did a lot of research, and Edifier came up a lot as a great brand for quality speakers that are also affordable. I'm sure there are many "better" speakers, but these are excellent, especially coming from a sound bar or cheap speakers, and they are quite affordable. I started with a pair of the 1280t, and now I have the s350db (includes sub) for my TV, and the s880db for my computer. Very happy with them.

So my computer speakers died, looking for something that sounds nice and balanced. Mostly lower nighttime volume and medium volume. Medium as in someone standing behind me could still talk to me with only raising their voice a little.
