yes, dump the vpn - unless you're filing taxes from Somalia.
if you dont know what a vpn is, wait for a lower price. very few average users need a vpn.

- Limiting data collection by their ISP or others on the internet.
- Business/employer requires VPN to access their backend programs/data.
- Accessing one's home network securely.
- Hoisting the black flag (aka piracy, torrenting).

Does it masque your IP and location? To an extent it does. Your VPN provider will know your location and IP address, but it reduces others from accessing or seeing it.
