42 inch is already really large to sit right in front of, let alone a 55 inch. Are there people who actually use a screen this large for a monitor, must be a small niche.

I got a 49inch curve and this would be overkill.

Last week brand new from Samsung, Best Buy and others it was $1299 for at least 2+ weeks, I've been watching this for a few weeks and was able to grab one from Amazon brand new for $1299. It looks like a manufactured discount expired Sunday night.
My use is I need for work windows that I'm actively using in the bottom half and Calendar, Chat, and email in the top. I'm also going to use my personal laptop connected to this and in one of the top windows for that. I currently have a 49" Samsung and it's either add another one which doesn't have the customization or go with the Ark.

49 inch curve is narrow (59 inch is better), it is too wide to see everything, not recommended for gaming, awesome for coding though.

Curious what made you sell it? I'm thinking of buying it when it's back on sale for productivity use.

I was doing some remodeling and didn't want to store it without a box. Plus I'm close to finishing my barcade so that'll be my new gaming setup with an 83" oled.

I game on my 49-in curve ultra wide with no problem in fact it's a very immersive experience and I absolutely love it.

What's the point of a curve tv?
You can see more without turning your head left and right.

I got mine last week cause my 49" died. It is great for work, with powertoys fancy zones. I have need to keep lots of programs up visible. CAD drawings full size is awesome. Gaming is great too. helldivers 2, star citizen, borderlands 4, all looks great. Only monitor that could unalive you if it fell. Good thing the OEM base is sturdy.

The screen size and ratio of the g9 57" and this 55" screen are completely different. You can see a visual comparison here:
https://www.displaywars.com/57-in...-inch-16x9

The 57" G9 would allow you to look just left and right to view the entire screen. Gaming, you could focus on the center and have the sides provide extra immersion.

For this 55" monitor, you are going to have to sit far back, or you are going to be looking both left and right as well as up and down. It's an excellent monitor quality wise, but I can't imagine many users who would want this size for their monitor. It's best use is splitting the screen into four separate quadrants when multitasking. Gaming wise, it wouldn't be good in most setups.

I read and watched a ton of mixed reviews on this monitor. Most of the criticism seemed to come down to QA issues and some pretty misguided expectations around the multi-input features. I decided to take a shot on it anyway and have been absolutely loving it.
It's absurdly large and heavy, a pain to assemble, only 4K, and I genuinely cannot think of a realistic use case for the vertical orientation. That said, the size and curve have been fantastic for everyday use and productivity. The amount of screen real estate is incredible, it gets extremely bright, and the panel looks great.
I was worried I'd miss the picture quality of the 48" OLED I was coming from, but I honestly haven't missed it at all.
If you go into it with open eyes about what this monitor is and isn't, it's a genuinely fun and slightly absurd thing to work on. Also worth noting: there are standing desks and monitor arms that can handle the weight and give you a lot of flexibility in how you set it up.
