This is a good price on these. I recently bought them, for the same price, because they had really good reviews. I get the feeling that many of those good reviews were incentivized. Maybe I got a bad set, or have bad taste, but I did not like them at all. I find them to be very boxy sounding and lacking highs. I am returning them.

Keep in mind that they are supposed to be used in a particular way, namely for near field listening so make sure to position them accordingly and also if you haven't yet done so try adjusting the eq settings to your preference then they should sound better. That said, it's possible you got a bad pair or that they are overhyped. I nearly purchased these very recently but something told me to hold off so I am still waiting for a deal on quality speakers that I feel comfortable buying. Not sure which speakers if any are better at this price point, may have to spend more to get something I will be truly satisfied with.

I put them on my computer desk, hooked them up to an audio interface, pointed them directly toward me, and adjusted them. By the way, the EQ adjustments knobs, and the bluetooth app adjustments, barely have any effect on the sound. They sounded "boxy". Bigtime boxy. Lacking highs. I also bought a pair of Presonus Eris 3.5s, which are very popular speakers, but also get their share of criticism. I had both pairs on my desk for well over a week. I A/B'ed them. I tried using each for hours, even a whole day, at a time. I kept going back to the Eris 3.5s, which are supposed to be "colored" and have some crazy EQ curve. For about $100, I prefer the really popular Eris 3.5s, by quite a big margin, over the Edifier MR3. I really wanted to like the MR3s, as they are much better constructed. This is why I say that maybe I got a bad pair. I do not understand the rave reviews.
I am not just some nutcase, either. I am a gigging musician, who plays guitar and bass. I have a tube amplifier, guitar modeler, PA equipment, studio headphones, and nice HIFI system. I help do our bands sound setup, recorded in high end studios, have owned studio monitors, and record at home. By the way, you don't want studio monitors for your computer, they are simply not designed for general use. Most people would not enjoy the way they sound for general listening, and they would not be willing to set them up properly.
