Nice looking watch. If it were Quartz, it'd be a thumbs down right away. But automatic at a buck fifty is tempting. Timex would be wise to have a second branding for their better watches. It's hard to see a $20 timex and then want to pay $200-$300 for their nicer. You can see why Fender has Squier and Fender branded products.

The unfortunate part is that Timex seems to use acrylic crystal for most if not all of their watches. This Marlin is acrylic and I just can't justify paying $150 for anything that has less than mineral crystal.

I won't argue the point that in 2026, acrylic is a substandard material for watch crystals. In Timex's defense, this is a retro re-issue of an iconic 1960's design. The original had acrylic, so one could argue this material choice is more authentic. On the otherhand, the original came in a 34mm case (yes, that was considered a men's watch back in the day) and had a handwinding-only mechanical movement. If Timex was willing to take liberties with both the dimensions and the movement type, they at least could have upgraded to mineral crystal.

ETA: If this were the initial Timex re-issue in 34mm and the silver dial, I'd be all over this at this price, regardless of the acrylic crystal. It's subtle, but I really like those art deco numerals.

Honestly, you'll be happier with an $18 Casio.

I had the same concern about the moonswatch. Even though it's quartz I couldn't fork over 3-400 for plastic that's going to get beat up

Since you know everyone's personal tastes could you tell me what I'd like best at the Mexican restaurant Im going to tonight? Or should I not be liking Mexican food?
