Concerns - Why, when they already had, arguably, the best deal, did they offer an even better one? Are they hurting financially? Positioning for buyout, other issues?
Infimobile goes under, gets bought out, folds into another service who doesn't honor or changes the service enough that it isn't usable.

For anyone interested - I've combined this cheap Verizon service with the free helium T-Mobile service (esim) to, in theory, get combined V/T (deprioritized) coverage. It will be interesting to see if the coverage works as expected. I should ad that the Helium "free" plan is no longer, well, free . While you aren't paying Helium anything for this service, they will pass thru any taxes and fees (fair enough). This will vary widely based on THE SERVICE ADDRESS YOU CHOOSE TO GIVE THEM. So, I'll be reevaluating whether my use case justifys these new costs.

So, I did confirm this. Plan changed to 1gb cell data plus 2gb "helium network" (hot spot) data. My assumption is that the helium network data would only come into play in dense(ish) urban areas. Definitely not my use case, so, a failed experiment for me. Oh well.
Choose ESIM (or be trying to renew) and use a privacy.com virtual credit card which works with ANY address. That allows you to pick a state with no sales tax and/or low 911 fees. I used ohio. Random store address in a random town. Since no physical media is being mailed it will drop the fees to almost nothing. I think I paid $2 in fees vs the $19 or so they wanted me to pay which was mainly a 911 fee. You can also lock 1 time usage and a max dollar amount on the card.

This deal is legit and I plan on buying again.
Question: If I need to activate in this new plan when old expires, is it possible to keep the same phone number? I assume then I'd just type in the new activation/PIN code and should get another 12 months.

I also had the same thought as you. I'm coming from the annual 5GB/Unlimited talk/text on Red pocket which was ~$144 with taxes and fees. $60 seemed too good to be true, but I figured I'd take a gamble on it. Cutting it to $49 seems unnecessary. IDK if there are a lot of people who were saying no at $60 that will be pulled in for $49, but who knows.
Why are they doing this? Tons of possible reasons. I think most likely is that they're willing to either make no money or perhaps lose money in order to get customers. Maybe the offer insanely cheap prices for a year and once they get all the customers that they can by doing that they start ramping up their prices to about the same or maybe a little less than some of the bigger competitors.
Perhaps they need to get to a certain number of users or data/minutes/sms to get certain volume discounts with Verizon/T-Mobile.
I do think they could be juicing their growth numbers in order to get bought out. I would assume that if that happens they wouldn't screw people out of service they've already bought. Whoever the acquirer is wouldn't want to lose all the customers they just paid to get.
The most pessimistic scenario is that they are barely keeping their head above water and they need a bunch of cash this week to avoid bankruptcy. If that's the case, maybe in 6 months or something they try something like this again and if it doesn't get them enough cash they go under and we're scrambling for another provider.
We have no choice of Verizon network so can we port-in a number from T-mobile to this Infimobile using the same T-mobile network?
