I only buy automatics these days....these quartz Pro Divers are just not in the same league with the automatic ones.

Why is that? What makes them better?

The automatics basically have a Seiko movement and are very reliable; great at the $50 price point

True, except the automatics are no longer at a $50 price point. I managed to snag one for $69 on sale, but these days they're typically around the $89+ range. Still a good deal if you ask me.

If you keep watching their site they come up with some great deals from time to time. I' ve bought a couple of 47mm automatics last year with these great mesh metal bands for under $50. They have the Miyota 8215 movements instead of Seiko nh35 but are still very reliable and solid as a rock, not to mention very nice looking. My favorite automatic is the Grand Diver, and those go down to $69 on occasion...for "authentic" ones as opposed to quartz models. You get dinged for shipping if your order is under $100

There's no battery to replace. Your natural arm movements throughout the day 'wind' the watch and also you can manually wind them. If you collect watches you may not wear them a lot but when you choose to you don't have to worry about the battery being dead.
