The other black (non-Rosewood) variant on the same page shows this warning note by Amazon at the top "Frequently returned due to the light output".

good catch. weird thing is says it's 24V but 350lumen. weird combo for a ~3w light (def on the dim side " 40watt or less incandescent equivalent, for those old enough)

nice design tho, and dimensions are larger than I expected. lamp doesn't appear like AliEx trash type 🤷🏼 ♂️
product video actually makes it look brighter than spec, but because light strip shines inward, it's more of a spotlight than a lamp. looks best for a nightstand lamp, or TV backlight
lol reverse image search shows it on [she]Etsy for $151

Ok I am in, not interested in the lamp as is, but seems like a cheap foundation to mod to something nicer like I did with this one: https://youtu.be/zNQnIrFs74g?si=p5Tl1x-v_vM2sYjs

I can see its individual LED's in there and based on the formfactor I am 99% sure its a LED strip. No effects so probably CCT.

So this will be a rip and replace, replace the LEDs with some ARGB ones and install a small controller replace the stock stuff.

I think it will be bright, and pretty cool with less than $20 worth of mods.

Probably give it away when I am done, I have no need more more stuff lol.

Just watched your video and I dont have the skills or equipment like you to be able to mod like you. Impressive! I was actually hanging on to a GE C "Sol" light for "someday" when I'd have the time and skills to mod it. Fast forward many years to today -- I think it's time I just gave this to someone with the know-how to do something. Let me know if you want it.

I just looked that up, it's ancient but really cool!

It looks like it already has Addressable LEDs inside.

So might be an easy conversation that doesn't require ripping apart the ring.

But I'm curious since it's a smart device how they are controlled, if decoupling would break that.

But if it's still using Alexa it technically can control its own light by voice commands (or phone or whatever) just not directly, it would be over wifi.

I hate to take something from you unless I had the time to work on it, and I have viewers very anxious for me to finish some projects like my solar builds and hacks.

I'll keep this in mind though and DM you should I want to proceed.

I need to research the light more and see what we can do with it.

More than anything I appreciate your kindness, that was a greater gift than offering any goods.

SOL still works with all the features when paired with Google Home agent. Just wanted to tell in case you are letting it go for dysfunctional reason. I can use another if you don't want it. I however would prefer a long life for it in your home. SOL works with Voice commands with Google home as well. Alexa also responds.
