American here. Was in Bali this past summer for 3 nights and it was fantastic! You don't usually go just to Bali, but rather visit Asia then include a few relaxing days in Bali. In my case, it was Taiwan and Borneo with Bali in between with 15 days of travel total.

Bali itself is touristy, but you can take day trips to other areas. I loved the people in Bali and the local food is awesome. Getting rice plates with various dishes at a Muslim warung for under $2 is unbeatable.

Specific to this deal, hotels in the Nusa Dua area are nice and usually pricey!! We didn't stay in that area because of that, instead we stayed in the Kuta area for around $100/night at a very nice resort. $200/night seems to be a good price, but do a compare on Expedia for hotels in the same area to see how good the deal is.

If you're in the US Bali is not worth the flight. I've been to over 75 countries and Bali is a complete tourist trap. The rest of Indonesia I liked a lot. It's a easy trip for Australians and I talked to several that asked why we took such a long flight for Bali when we have so many places closer.

How many days you plan if you go from NY to Hawaii? It is 6 hrs time difference. For Pacific people Bali is 8 hrs difference. And super cheap and as beautiful if not better

As someone born and raised in indonesia (bandung, central java)

Is bali a tourist trap? Yes
Is it still beautiful? Yes
Is it worth the trip? I wouldnt do the flight there from north america, especially eastern usa for less than 10 days

Its a hustle and bustle type of place but traveling within is at snail pace. You can spend 3 hours driving 10 miles across town

With that said, i encourage anyone that likes to travel to experience bali at least once. Their hindu-centric culture is an outlier even to other indonesians, the food alone is worth the trip, and theres an abundance of both natural and prehistorical beauty all around

Since 2020 and russian war, its been an even higher influx of white people so dont expect to not see any, if thats your thing

Listen to this guy. He knows what he's talking about. You could say lots of places are tourist traps that doesn't make it not worth it to visit. Sometimes that means accessible. Terima kasih!

As for the deal itself, it's been decades since I've been to Bali. But for reference I did go to Surabaya a couple years ago and for a very nice four star Marriott hotel was only about $80. Prices are much cheaper over there. So for $200/night seems quite expensive. As for if it's worth it or not you'd have to do some research. Your flight is going to be the most expensive part of your trip. Here's a quick tip. If you go through a travel agent they may be able to book flights that go through a carrier that flies to Asia as one flight. So even though I took JetBlue to JFK and then Singapore Air I didn't have to pay for my luggage for my connecting flights which saved me hundreds of dollars.

Be aware travelers, if you encounter their "King", you must kneel. Otherwise, you will face prison time. Not kidding

In Indonesia, it is legally required to specify a religion on official documents.

Been to Bali three times now and love it. Nusa Dua is a great place to recharge and get over the jet lag then move to other places. Ideally staying at hotels or Airbnbs that are owned by locals, they will go above and beyond for you.
This! Bali is an island, but it's NOT a beach destination no matter how hard it is to believe. Nusa Dua would be a good place to unwind for 5 days at a reasonably nice beach resort, but only after (or in-between) exploring other, more fascinating parts of Bali. If you want to make it the base for exploring the island, I'd advise against it

I would like to go there and work flexibly/remotely for about 30 days while traveling around from the base "camp." What would be a cheaper but nice option for that long a stay?
