American here. Was in Bali this past summer for 3 nights and it was fantastic! You don't usually go just to Bali, but rather visit Asia then include a few relaxing days in Bali. In my case, it was Taiwan and Borneo with Bali in between with 15 days of travel total.

Bali itself is touristy, but you can take day trips to other areas. I loved the people in Bali and the local food is awesome. Getting rice plates with various dishes at a Muslim warung for under $2 is unbeatable.

Specific to this deal, hotels in the Nusa Dua area are nice and usually pricey!! We didn't stay in that area because of that, instead we stayed in the Kuta area for around $100/night at a very nice resort. $200/night seems to be a good price, but do a compare on Expedia for hotels in the same area to see how good the deal is.

If you're in the US Bali is not worth the flight. I've been to over 75 countries and Bali is a complete tourist trap. The rest of Indonesia I liked a lot. It's a easy trip for Australians and I talked to several that asked why we took such a long flight for Bali when we have so many places closer.

How many days you plan if you go from NY to Hawaii? It is 6 hrs time difference. For Pacific people Bali is 8 hrs difference. And super cheap and as beautiful if not better
Not sure how you calculate time, but Los Angeles is 16 hours and New York is 13 hours difference:

As I write this, it's 8:13AM Friday on the west coast and 12:13AM the next day in Bali. That's 16 hours difference.

5 nights. By the time you overcome jet-lag, it's time to leave.
I usually make it a longer vaca by booking a cheaper hotel near the airport and touristy things so that you can sleep the jet lag off and get the touristy things out of the way, then go to the resort to relax.

I don't see the logic in paying for a resort and then exiting... the attraction is the resort. Stay at the cheap hotel and get the souvenirs, sleep off the jet lag, then go to the resort and enjoy every minute that you paid for.
Then go back to a different cheap hotel and enjoy that area, then go to the airport the following day.

Maybe it was a seasonal tide thing, but the beaches had tons of plastic (although the waterfall areas did too). There's good spots here and there and good food, but overall people were pretty pushy towards tourists and most areas were kinda trashy. Witnessed a cock fight not too far from our hotel (religious thing).Felt like I was being played as part of a big joke since every review I ever saw beforehand gushed about Bali. Jimbaran (2 days) --> Ubud (5 days) -->Nusa Dua (4 days). This was 2020 just before COVID lockdown.

I normally like exploring every second, but after the first 7 days I was content staying inside the Nusa Dua resort waiting for the brutal flight home.

Stayed in amazing local places in Bali for less than $20 per night. Guess it depends on what kind of experience you're looking for.

+1, we visited Komodo Island area and the snorkeling/diving is mindblowing, better than the Great Barrier Reef or anywhere in the Caribbean, worth the trip. On par with Maldives (more diversity but less big stuff). But just to go to Bali is not worth such a long flight.

Also if you have to fly domestically in Indonesia, be prepared for canceled flights. They're not really in a hurry to fly. Big Grin

Couldn't disagree more. Spent 3 weeks there. Have had friends move there. Couldn't recommended it to my friends more! $30 all day spa treatments. I've been all over the world and have been to spas around the US. Value is nothing compared to what Bali has to offer imo.

Bali is the armpit of indonesia. Absolute garbage. Stay somewhere else.
Did you stay in the city only? Ubud was fantastic in the 1990s at least.

I went to Bali twice in the late 1990s. I don't know about all inclusives. We stayed in bungalows in Ubud and Loved, hiked, went to beaches, and are ridiculously awesome cheap food.

If you want a big city, it's probably a bad choice for you.
