So basically this does give you a discount however since online prices are generally more expensive than in-club, you're likely not going to net save money vs. buying instore?

Maybe it is item specific but the average markup I see is about 12-14% with no extra fees like regular Instacart (the fees are baked into the price). You can compare in store prices by looking them up on the Costco app.

Not sure if the markup changes by area but in Baltimore area the markup is 9.3% standard across most items. I ordered numerous times using Costco Same Day and it was always 9.3% markup on most items I ordered. The electronics like Sonos products which I ordered a lot have even less markup like 1-4%. With a tip of around 10% combined with discounted instacart gift cards make these deals very good for me since you don't have to drive and shop at Costco physically and you are paying less than what you pay in store
