Obviously not the cheapest cables in existence, but these are effectively unmatched in quality/dependability when it comes to high speed USB/TB 40gbps connectivity.

Passive cable, but not a bad price for its quality.

So I have two TB4 cables to compare to, and neither are Apple, and I can tell you that both have survived for the past four years.

1) The TB4 cable that came with my Lenovo TB4 Workstation Dock (its spliced in with their proprietary square barrel connector). The dock was several hundred dollars.

2) An Anker one (its a few bucks less than this one)

They both work fine and have done eGPU dock connection work.

Not saying this to say that the Apple cable is bad; however, you might not need to pay the fruit tax to get a half-decent item. Similar to lightning, there are good third party ones. In particular, the ones from HP and Lenovo, often harvested from their docks, are quite cheap and definitely just as durable and reliable. They can be as cheap as $10, but maybe around $15 or so if you want it domestically sourced. The ones I see look just like the one with my dock, complete with the FRU part number sticker.

On an unrelated note, Lenovo will mail out replacement TB4 cables if you purchased from them ($$) like no ones business, overnight, if even a single part of a package containing the cable is defective. I had two defective docks (firmware botched up), and got two new cables in my replacement parcel.

You can use the coupon code APPLEFIVE at the last checkout step to take an additional $5 off, making the total $31 plus tax.
