It's literally the former owner of Woot before it was bought by Amazon.

They were banned from Amazon 4 or 5 years ago for review fraud. They still exist, but they took a huge hit because of that.

This is one of those watches you buy when there's a "trade in any smartwatch deal" to use as a trade in. I bought something similar when Samsung had the promo. I didn't even open it, just straight up sent it in for trade.

I'm not sure what the alternative would be? Are you just saying you want a normal watch, or some sort of smart watch that doesn't have any way to actually sync/interact with the "smart" functions?
Im saying i want to see cheap android watches. ive tried using several of these type of app controlled fitness based watches and have always been left wanting more out of them. sure if you exercise regularly or want the sleep tracking stuff as a primary features these are fine. even just for having a watch, this seems fine. but i personally dont need to know the time so frequently as to need a watch just for that, i dont exercise often enough to track it on yet another app, independent of all others apps ive used in the past. and i dont have a need to check my heath via cheap sensors on any regular basis. the watch i want at the very least would need to be able to turn on and join wifi, use contactless payments, receive and reply to messages (at least from apps) and all of this independent of being tethered to a phone. storage for a small selection of music, and bluetooth for headphones would be a bonus then.
Part of this is for battery life. if your watch is always connected to the phone via bluetooth, of course its draining battery on both devices. i also use my phone with other bluetooth devices, which has in the past conflicted with the connection to the watch.

Try reloading the page. The Verge uses some weird system that paywalls articles randomly and then un-paywalls them a few minutes later.

I thought Aukey no longer existed. Hafent seen that name pop up here in ages it feels like. In the past it seems like we had multiple "deals" a day from them on SD.
They went underground for a while to design this revolutionary watch..

Ah interesting. Glad that was done, i def remember it being ridiculous.
It was massive. They were offering $300 via PayPal at points to get 5 star user reviews for products that were really star worth. Someone blew the whistle because they were not happy their refund was delayed after leaving review. The whistle blower amongst others lost privileges to review. They also went after users that left honest reviews because they couldn't see who left honest reviews or not.

Which sucks for them... Because they didn't need to bribe customers for positive reviews. They made quality stuff. My 2m braided USB-A to C cable that I bought back in September 2019, and use daily, still works today. My 65W dual slot charger that I bought around the same time and now use as a backup charger for my work laptop still works today.

It's a shame, really.

thats just it, there isnt really an alternative yet. sure full on android or apple watches can probably do most of what i want, but i dont want to pay that much. thats why i said im waiting for a cheap one that can do it.

Connection to your phone via bluetooth is basically negligible amounts of battery use. What you're asking for is an android phone on your wrist which is more or less what Samsung/Google/Oneplus offer with their watches, and they both offer LTE options as well so you can truly use them separate from your phone if you need to.

But you're never going to get what you're asking for because there's no market for it and both google/Samsung have proved that the wear OS platform itself is the battery drain. You're never going to get more than like 3 days of battery life on an android watch unless there is a monumental development in battery tech, or a complete overhaul of wear OS. The closest thing available would be oneplus' most recent watch, which has good battery life because its a dual OS watch.

Get a OnePlus watch 3. Keep it in power saver mode. It'll last 10+ days between charges even with regular use.

Get Amazefit, hell of a battery life, lasts 7 days easily. Once you go this route, you cannot tolerate mainstream ones that require daily removal and charging, which defeats the purpose of the damn watch.
