I bought and it's not great. It doesn't consistently light up. I'd find a different one.

Conversely, mine has worked great for the last few years. If you start it directly on top of a stud it wont read right, but other than that it works perfect and can accurately show the sides and center of a stud. I even tried it out when I was putting siding on my barn just to check the accuracy and it was dead on.

Yes, which DTO uses to get around the contract TTI has with homedepot. They cant sell "new" ryobi product, but if they call it blemished its fine. The products come brand new in sealed retail boxes.
Factory reconditioned is different.

Would recommend purchasing a stud finder if you don't already have one.

I was gonna ask how good these are. I've tried 2 different older ones and neither have been consistently close to accurate)

Get the CH hanson magnetic one. It's cheap and works perfectly.

I wish it was One+. I know it would be a bit awkward but my Ryobi batteries are always charged, the 9v batteries in my current stud finder always seem to be dead when I need them. I guess this being AAA is a little better.
Edit: wow, 5 thumbs down for explaining my personal needs and stating specifics about this model....no wonder there are so many lurkers who refuse to post replies.

That's what I use. It can be a little annoying sweeping it around the wall looking for a screw but aside from that it's always dead on

I agree but I'd go for a Zircon. This Ryobi is made by Franklin and it'll work... sorta okay.
