This Kobalt 24 volt split shaft string trimmer stands out for attachment flexibility, with the lower shaft removable so it can take tools like an edger, hedger, or rototiller. The battery and charger are part of the appeal at this price, and the included 4.0 amp hour pack is described as worth the cost. It also runs well on speed 1, though speed 2 can overheat batteries, especially in hot weather. A dependable budget pick if you want one tool that can do more than trimming.
The split-shaft design supports swapping attachments like an edger or rototiller for more yard tasks.
The included battery and charger are described as worth the price for this attachment-capable trimmer kit.
Battery overheating appears manageable when using speed 1, with overheating mainly reported on speed 2.
Extended run batteries reportedly did not trigger overheating issues during regular use.
Using speed 2 can overheat the batteries, which may limit sustained high-power operation.
The blower included with the combo may be less powerful, which could reduce performance for heavier jobs.
Battery age codes can vary, with received batteries reportedly showing dates like 01/24 and 10/24.
A dedicated straight-shaft trimmer reportedly cannot accept attachments, which limits flexibility compared with split-shaft models.
