Natural brooms are much better than the plastic ones. They do not create static, do not leave microplastic particles, and overall sweep much better. But you need to prep the new broom first by soaking it (the lower part) overnight in cold water.

Corn brooms, are excellent for heavy-duty, dry cleaning tasks both indoors and outdoors, particularly on rough surfaces like garages, basements, sidewalks, and workshops. Their stiff, durable bristles effectively move heavy debris, dirt, and dust, while they also work well for cleaning rough carpets, porches, and patios. Dry use only though and not for finished hardwood floors that can scratch.

Should be a 1 and 1/8" handle, not just 1/8" 😉

I grew up using one of these brooms and idk what my parents were thinking when they decided to buy it. Corn brooms are like 1/2 step ahead of using a tree branch to sweep.

Every year, our town has an arts and crafts fair. There's a vendor that sells these primitive brooms -- a bit like these but "rougher". They sell like mad! Seriously, they must sell many hundreds of them every year, and the price isn't cheap, close to $50 from what I remember. We're not sure what the allure is, but there are plenty of people who swear by these.

In my country, the USA, these were produced in Iowa and Nebraska before they switched to plastic imports. This one on sale is made in Mexico.
