Mostly unrelated, but I'm baffled that in the currect economic state of electronics, all we see is rising prices with negligible "sale" discounts... And then "pro" and "ultra" versions of the products for significantly more. Making the standard model the economy option.

Seems like it would benefit some of these manufacturers to release budget bersions of their simplest, highest markup products (like controllers.)

Remove superfluous features like the adaptive resistance triggers, use cheaper components and offer a discounted "little brother" controller that's oem.

I guess there's third party controllers for that purpose. But I'm just surprised they don't want a piece of that pie.
