If your tools are out of warranty, you can modify your tools' grooves rather than the battery, which has a 3-year warranty.
I have a mix of Kobalt 80v, Greenworks Pro 80v, Greenworks 80v, Greenworks Commercial 82v, and aside from trimming some groves, all batteries work with all tools.

Thanks, great deal. The Kobalt 80v outdoor tools may not be as popular as others, I love my mower and the old 2.5ah batteries are not really holding a charge as long as they us3d to. I have been waiting for a good deal on a bigger battery for it. The 80v batteries seldom go on sale. I have been very happy with the kobalt 80v tools I have.

Tempted... I only have the 2Ah ones right now and they are getting old and have to swap them out often. Unfortunate that you can't do pickup to avoid the $15 hazardous material fee.

Thinking of getting this for my 80v green works tools. Has anyone done the battery modification and is it worth it?

I'm able to do pickup without any fees. Try ship to store.

a quick search will find videos, I tried it on an older battery and made a mess but it worked. You're just adding channels for the battery guides that are in slightly different places to prevent easy swaps...

Wonder if it's location based? The pickup option is greyed out for me and only showing me ship to home for free with that $15 fee or the $79 home delivery option

We also have the 80v mower and the batteries are 2.5ah. They aren't holding a charge like the used to. Ordered!

Ship to store saved that $15 fee, thanks for the tip. Ordered. Does anyone know the dimensions on this item?

My store has 282 available for pickup on the 30th. This or generic 3.5 Ah batteries on Amazon for $56? I could get 3 or 4.

Does anyone know if you can simply swap all the internals with an empty Greenworks battery of the same dimensions?

I've done the battery mod, just basically double the channel on either side with a drill press, or dremel, etc. It's worth it if you get the batteries cheaper for the other platform.Took me maybe 20 minutes per battery with my dremel.

Do the modification mentioned in this post to use both battery brands for both kobalt and greenworks tools.
