Does it work without a charging cable plugged in? The Anker small USB C hubs typically do not.

warning, the hdmi of this cable is used for display device, monitor or tv, not for source like your desktop! so don't buy it for AR glasses

This is a good option/ brand if you don't have a magsafe charger or Qi fast charger. Some hdmi to usb C can be found for like $2 fyi.
