Channellock pliers are actually tongue and groove. This... uses Knipex's adjustment mechanism.

Chinese knock off of Knipex's push-button adjustment instead of slide-lock adjustment, or tongue and groove style typical of channel lock brand.

For anyone unsure about quality, just get them. I have the harbor freight ones that are likely made in the same factory, and they are great. I used them every day as a commercial dish machine tech. I have tried several of the harbor freight knipex clones as well as knipex, and the difference in quality isn't remotely worth the price difference.

Knipex clone/copy term overly used. Patent expired anyone can make it. We dont say a screwdriver clone, hammer clone, etc.

Fair enough. We would, however, say something like "Stilletto Hammer Clone", if it was a dead-to-rights straight copy. Brand names exist for a reason (i own a set of Knipex tools); but if the Knipex patent has expired, then that sure explains the recent market explosion of exact replicas that weren't around until the last year or so.
I bought the real thing, so i can only hope the quality of my versions are better. At least better steel!
