Comparing this and the ASUS ROG GM700 58L from Costco ($2000). Mostly gamer, sometimes video work, not often. Costco one has 9950x3d, B650 MB and Costco of course has nice return and warranty policies. Any ideas?

Simply search "9950x3d vs 9800x3d. Here's an in depth review.
https://www.tomshardware.com/pc-c...3d-faceoff

I researched this for my teen son who sold his Pokemon cards for a gaming rig.he won't need to update. The 9950x3d essentially parks several cores to achieve results that are within 1-3fps of the 9800x3d. Plus it needs a PSU at least a bare minimum of 100 watts higher than the 9800x3d. They both have the same Radeon video card.

BUT - for anything that can use all 16 cores, like video editing, CAD, or 3d printing the 9950x3d is going to be substantially faster, as long as the program can use all 16 cores of the 9950x3d efficiently.

The B850+ MB with the 9800x3d is one of the more premium, and expensive, motherboards. Weirdly.enough the 9550x3d has an older and less fancy MB, using the B650. I would double check, as some ASUS 800 series MB have had problems with the 9800x3d. But also remember it essentially comes out of the box overclocked, so pushing it harder can be a fools errand. You gain little except risking cooking your processor. Is that an ASUS MB issue, or is it the case.of.too many new to overclocking gamers didn't realize how hard the processor is already pushed in stock applications, and it can run quite hot.
